Reflection of Photography Essay

There are 8 different techniques in the Photo-Op essay that help improve your photograph.

Asymmetry and symmetry
Both of these are very effective. Symmetry is easy on the eye and makes a good composition, but asymmetry makes the viewer think.

Repetition
This makes the viewer question, “why is this here and how?” It draws attention and emphasis.

Framing
This is a way to draw attention to the main focus. It is most effectively done in a subtle manner, that does not distract from the focal point.

Close-up
This shows the complexity and detail of an object. By taking a close-up, you can see the beauty of the object in a deeper sense and not just the broader picture.

Continuous Mode
Taking a series of pictures, possibly in a circle; having fun with your camera.

Exploration
Take over 100 pictures of the same object from different angles and lighting.

Movement
By shaking a moving your camera, you can add a whole new feel to the image.

Serendipity
Have your camera with you at all times in case fate gives you a fantastic photo opportunity.
